What Kind of Sports Podcast?

We discuss moral questions within current sports topics. Our discussions embrace the social, religious, medical, political, and legal contexts of sports.

Our aim is to bring reasonable moral arguments to sports in order to enhance the overall public conversation.

I'm still nostalgic for the 1990s era New York Knicks. After the Knicks seasons ended early, I cheered for the Yankees. I support The Ohio State University. I have to. When the school pays you to do summer research in philosophy, you get to work with the Chair of the Department, you use that paper to get a Masters Degree in Philosophy, and you get letters of recommendation from those professors to get into law school, you heart the Buckeyes. And, since I live in Atlanta I jumped on the UGA and Braves bandwagons.

My career started with a BA in Philosophy, Ronald E. McNair Scholar, at Georgia State University. Unlike Zack who knows about banks and analytics, I focused on moral, political, and legal theory. This interest led to a Masters degree the University of Missouri, St. Louis. Does it count that I also taught an online Business Ethics course? Then, I had to decide between a PhD in Philosophy at the University of King’s College, London or a law degree at South Texas College of Law, Houston, I chose the JD.

In law school, I thought about tort law and international oil and gas. I also took a sports law class with Zack Hamilton.

Currently, I am a happily unlicensed JD working at a personal injury law firm writing about concussions.

Born in the heart of Dallas, Texas, I’ve been a Cowboys fan since I could remember. I have been known to turn off the channel when Stephen A. Smith speaks about my beloved Cowboys. Analytics, Spreadsheets, and Fantasy summarizes most of my life. The best time of the year is March when the Madness starts. A proper setup with TVs and laptops is an annual event.

My son is an avid Ja Morant fan despite Luka Doncic’s 60 point triple double win against John’s New York Knicks. My two daughters definitely know Jerry Jones and Dak Prescott.

I graduated with a Bachelors in Finance with a minor in Real Estate from the University of North Texas. I worked as a rep/analyst at Guaranty Bank, JP Morgan Chase, and Northstar Bank. Then, I went to South Texas College of Law, Houston. Originally, I pursued a career in criminal law as a prosecutor and to do trial work. Then, I took a Sports Law course and my interests in business and analytics reignited. I became a Certified Mediator.

Currently, I work as a Consultant and negotiate contracts and commercial leases. My clients’ bottom line is my top priority which is much more than this podcast.
